Volunteering in your Community

One of the more well-known benefits of volunteering is the impact on the community.

Volunteering allows you to connect to your community and make it a better place. Even helping out with the smallest tasks can make a real difference to the lives of people, animals, and organizations in need. And volunteering is a two-way street: It can benefit you and your family as much as the cause you choose to help.

Dedicating your time as a volunteer helps you;

  • make new friends,
  • expand your network
  • Increase your social and relationship skills
  • counteract the effects of stress, anger, and anxiety.
  • Be happy, combats depression.
  • increase self-confidence.
  • provide a sense of purpose
  • stay physically healthy

Communities are a beautiful but complex mix of different values, experiences, beliefs, histories, cultures, ideas and identities. Volunteering helps us to forge links among individuals and groups in our communities that overcome differences and enrich our day-to-day life.

When you volunteer, you are helping those that need help the most. Whether that be a community clean-up, driving someone to an appointment, preparing a meal or meeting any other need in Leeds & Grenville, volunteering your time and skills changes lives and makes a positive impact.
